DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Join us this Saturday 07th to experience a new type of ecological activity in one the most pleasing place in Batroun district. It’s about olive picking & tour at Douma village and olive oil tasting at Chabtine village.
We will start our day by meeting the villagers who will share with us their experience in olive picking and how it could be done, their attachment to the land as well as their traditions and lifestyle. Then we will be divided into small groups and provided materials for work; the procedure is easy and can be listed by: setting the maps under the trees, shaking the branches by hand and pneumatic rakes and filling the crates to transport them to the local press in the village at the end of the day.
Afterwards, we will have the chance to walk in the old souk of Douma, this beautiful village known for its special location and great landmarks, its houses red brick and unique temperate climate. We will be also able to visit the Heritage museum to discover old handcrafts and listens to the history of Douma
Then, we will have lunch together in a restful place in Douma (guest house or other)
As mention before, we will end our journey by gathering at Maison MazakChabtine, will visit it, learn about oil making and get to taste its exquisite olive oil.
There will be different stands selling Mazak products at discounted prices.
This event is done in collaboration with “Mazak”. MAZAK is organic and local brand. Maison Mazak is located in Chabtine-middle Batrouncaza. It is a local brand promoting local organic “terroir” products (Olive oil, olives, natural soap, honey…) produced by villagers and encouraging as well local famers to stick to their lands and use only green practices.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Prepare yourself for an amazing and wonderful trail in West Bekaa district. At this time of the year, the color of tree and plants, the springs with the swamp are Extremely Impressive.
So, this hike in Ammiqis diversified. You get to walk at the swamp and after along the edge of mountains where many trees species provide shade and shelter.
Our visit will begin from the entrance in Ammiq Wetland where a warm and friendly greeting from the reserve team, accompanied by presentation of the reserve.
HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous
Level 4(7 km approx.) will start from the swamp, it has a watching tower to observe migrating birds.; making a walk inside the wetland and then will take an uphill path for about 100 meters to reach the top of the mountain. You will get the feeling of being on top of the world! The path will continue straight to reach the hill overlooking Bekaa valley, then a pine forest, the old broken-down village of ancient Ammiq, old churches and a farm. The church is the most ancient part. Bring your cameras with you; you will definitely use it. We will cross by many water sources where the water drops create a unique sort of music. Lunch will be in the vicinity.
Level 6 will start from the swamp of Ammik, pass through the guest house then the three water sources, nabehsaalouk, Ain Abed, Ain el tain, and finally meet with level 4 for lunch. After lunch will continue in a stretch beautiful trail to Aana village.
Total distance is (around 15 km); we will only take short rests. We promise you spectacular views and great scenery.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Come and experience the adventure of hikingalong the charming village of NihaBekaa and Ferzol. The word ‘Niha’ means a place of rest, as it was once the Roman emperor’s summer place in Baalbeck. Niha is known for the 4citadels dating back to the Roman Empire were constructed between the 1st and 3rd century AD, with some even further back to the Byzantine and Phoenician era. The citadels are grand, which can be compared to those at Baalbeck, albeit on a smaller scale.
The hike will begin from Niha where we will visit the well-preserved lower temple.
After this, we will divide into two groups: easy and intermediate.
HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous/advanced
Level 4 (approx. 2:30Hr) will continue to walk a bit uphill until they reach the upper temple El Hosn of Niha, which is still upright but in very good condition. Stunning panoramic views of the Bekaa valley can be enjoyed from up there. Then the trail becomes a downhill walk all the way to Ferzol.
Once in Ferzol, we will all go to Al-Habis to see ancient ruins and caves dating from the Canaanite, Phoenician and Roman era. The ruins are from a prehistoric empire that has been carved into the mountain as Cappadocia in Turkey, famous for allegedly housing all the gold treasures of that empire! On the other side, we will see the king’s chair, wine presses, and many historical remnants.
Level 3 (approx. 1:30Hr) The same trail as level 4, the difference is; will reach the upper temple El Hosn of Niha by bus.
We will have time to rest and visit Rayak Train station before walking back to our bus and continuing back home.

Nahr Ibrahim or “River of Abraham” is also known as river Adonis (river of immortal love) relative to the myth of Adonis and Astarte in Phoenician mythology. Today, it is one of the tourist attractions in Lebanon, being the place where the ancient god Adonis died, and the river became red with his blood.
The Nahr Ibrahim valley offers a varied landscape and is considered one of the most enchanting for hiking in JbeilCaza, especially during this season.

Our hike will be divided into 2 levels:
In JannetChouwen you will experience the pleasure of hiking in the majestic nature, mixed forests with oak, pine and many other plant species.
Our march’s for level 4 (approx. 2,30Hr); you will start from Ebre village and take the path in the midle of “JabalMoussa” passing through trees and bushes where the views are remarkable. You just have to be there to believe! That trail will lead you to “JannetArtaba”. There we will have lunch at the river bank. This magnificent green forest makes the valley one of the best in the world.
LEVEL 6(approx. 3,30Hr); consists of ascending trails at the beginning that requires good physical competencies. You will start fromShouwenand head up to Ebre. From there, you’ll head to Janneh, meet with level 4 for lunch at the river bank. You will have minimal time for rest and photo sessions.
On our way back we may stop by historical Phoenician ruins. Overhead at Mashna’a and at Shir El Meidan the impressive remains of a Roman temple and a citadel built on ancient foundations still dominate the scene, giving a view over the astounding gorge.

Nahr El Jawz located in North of Lebanon is one of the most beautiful Lebanese trails;
The river serves the water mills, irrigated fields, power generators, cafés and restaurants and a part of the water is pumped for domestic use in Batroun and the region. But you will be charmed above all by the various types of trees along the river banks, especially the walnut trees that grow in preference close to water and which have given the river their name. There we will have our lunch.
Historically, Nahr El Jawz valley was the only possible way through which armies could reach Batroun and for that reason fortress of Msaylha was built to protect Batroun from enemy attacks.
The valley offers a varied landscape and it’s considered one of the most enchanting for hiking in BatrounCaza.
HIKING LEVEL.1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.
Due to the topography of the ground and walking beside the river, you are bound to descend and ascendant minor slopes, so the hike will be a Level 4 to 5 (9.5 Km), it will be easy.
First we will visit the tomb of Patriarch Elias Hoayek in Sainte Famille Convent. The trail offers many scenic spots and adventure. You will start walking from the village of Rashkida and head towards the river bank until you reach the bridge of Boxmaya village. The bus will then take you to Kfarhay to visit St. Maroun Monastery.
Mar YouhannaMaroun (St. John Maron) was the first Maronite Patriarch (702-710). During his mandate, Maronites moved from Syria to Lebanon and made Kfarhay the Patriarchal Seat until 938 when it moved to Yanouh. The skull of Mar Maroun is safeguarded there, you will see it, and visit the precious museum of old books dated back to the 15th century.

Where
In The Kadisha Valley (also known as Qadisha Valley, OuadiQadisha, or ?????????? in Arabic) lies within the Becharre and Zgharta Districts of the North Governorate of Lebanon. The valley is a deep gorge carved by the Kadisha River, also known as the Nahr Abu Ali when it reaches Tripoli. Kadisha means “Holy” in Aramaic, and the valley, sometimes called the Holy Valley, has sheltered Christian monastic communities for many centuries. The Valley which harbors the most ancient Christian monasteries in the world is on the verge of being radiated from the World Heritage list because of serious plagues that are destroying it.
History
Annoubine’s history dates back to the 7th century. It has monasteries and sanctuaries spread all over the gorge, in the form of caves or churches.
Since the early centuries of Christianity, the Holy Valley has served as a refuge for those in search of solitude. Historians believe that the Kadisha Valley has had monastic communities continuously since the earliest years of Christianity. It was also at times a destination for Muslim mystics, or Sufis, who also visited it for meditation and solitude.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
HIKING LEVEL.1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous
Level 4, will start from Hawka, visit the hermit, St. Marina and DeirSaidetAnnoubine. It is a wonderful place to visit and you will have enough time to contemplate scenery and take pictures. The lunch will be by the river. It is a lovely place, a breathtaking setting. After lunch, you will continue to Mar Licha parking.
Level 6 (13 km) have about 600 meters downhill and 300 meters uphill. The hike will start from Hadath El-Jebbe. The track cuts through a bushy forest, all downhill until you reach the old village of Annoubine, where you cross Qadicha River, from there we will continue uphill to meet with level 4 at Annoubine Monastery and continue together as one group. Then the trail becomes minor ascents and descents all the way to power station parking, where the hike ends.

Description of the destination
SaidetHawka:
There you can see a tiny chapel in a huddle of caves and grottos with the barest remnants of fresco paintings. The AassiHawka (cave) in particular, has yielded archaeological items indicating Palaeolithic, Roman, and medieval periods of use. A Colombian hermit now resides there. We will have the chance to visit him.
DeirSaidetAnnoubine:
This is one of the oldest Monasteries in Lebanon. The monastery was built in a rocky pit, most probably by Byzantine emperor Theodos the Great in 379 – 395. DeirAnnoubine monastery was to become the seat of the Maronite Patriarch in the 15th century and to remain so for 500 years. The monastery was rehabilitated in 1990 and is now used by the Antonine Sisters who welcome pilgrims to spend the night.
St. Marina:
The chapel of St. Marina now holds the tombs of eighteen patriarchs. The chapel of St. Marina stands in the memory of a girl named Marina who entered Annoubine monastery disguised as a monk. (The whole story will be told during the hike).

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
It’s one of the most beautiful hikes that will leave wonderful pictures in your memory.
Nahr el Bared is between Akkarand Donniyehand “3youn el Samak” River is a part of it. Our walk beside it, it’s just amazing.
First, we will visit a beautiful lake of 500 m length, 175m width and 10 m depth and walk along the bank of “Nahr el Bared”! (3youn el Samak) until we reach a huge wonderful waterfall, cross it to the end of the valley and return to have lunch in a restaurant beneath the waterfall.
HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.
3ioun el Samak a wonderful place for hiking; our hike will be divided into 3 levels:
LEVEL 3 (Approx. 5.5 Km) will be an easy walk beside the river. In this hike, you will have many reasons to keep your cameras handy. From the moment you start hiking until the moment you stop, there will be scenes you’ll want to cherish forever. You will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees and herbs, chirping birds, fresh breeze and rushing water.
LEVEL 5 (Approx. 10 Km) You will take a different and more difficult trail. It is ascendant bare mountain exposed to the sun that will lead you to a point of amazing scenery and landscape. The second part of this trail is descendant toward the river to join level 3 and head to the restaurant. It is a great place beneath the waterfall to end the hike.
LEVEL 5+ (Approx. 13 Km)
On our way back to Beirut, we may stop in Batroun to drink freshly squeezed Lemonade.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Lebanese wineries count over 30 nowadays. This ”bijou” winery, with its clay-limestone vineyards, nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean-sea, produce a range of unique wines that capture the spirit of the Levant.
Our tour will start by a visit to Deir el Mokhalles ‘Trappiste Priests Winery’. We will taste wine and local products and have breakfast there.
Trappiste is a small winery, producing small quantities of high-quality wine.
Our next stop will be in CHATEAU AURORA. It is a true boutique wine, exclusively made by The Geara family of Rachkedde, Aurora now has 2 vineyards for a total of 1.4 acres. The first vintage was made of the early grapes in 2004.
Now without food in your stomachs, the last stop will be in Kfifan for lunch. Kfifan is an old stone house that reflect Lebanon’s authentic heritage and has a shop that sells homemade products, wine, organic foods and goods.
The last stop will be in ADYAR, located in the Monastery of Kfifan. Adyar, or Monasteries in Arabic, is a line of wines, made with grapes ORGANICALLY cultivated at a 410m and up to 1600m, and grown on a non-contaminated soil since 2003, which means they are not exposed to any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. You will get the chance to taste the white, red and rose wine.
Then we will take the bus to visit the historical “St. Stephan’s Cathedral”, walk in the old Souk, go to the “Phoenician wall”, visit “Our Lady of the See” and end our walk at “Makaad el Mir”.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Mokhtara – seat of Jumblat Family, the leader of Druze Community in Lebanon, will definitely mark your minds and souls with its colorful, fresh and beautiful nature all day long.
We will walk a splendid trail beside the river; our sky will be even green. We will cross many bridges; the most famous one is the TheBirket El Arous Bridge. It was built at the end of the Mamluk era, as indicates the Arabic inscription engraved on one of its stones “Month of Safar, year 913 Hijri, 1507 AD”. It is a part of a complex network of bridges and trails built in the valley of Barouk by the Mamluks and later the Ottomans.
HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous
LEVEL 3 (4 km) will walk a loop trail in Mokhtara and will start from Our Lady Church. You will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees and herbs, chirping birds, fresh breeze and rushing water. The scenery is really beyond description. You will have enough time for meditation, photo shooting and fun. You will have lunch at the Bride bridge and then you will go to visit Jumblat Castle and maybe meet Mr. WalidJumblat.
Level 5 (11 km) is a bit tough. The view you get to see from the valley is beyond imagination. You will start with level 3 and split at some point to take a trail that leads to Amatour. You will pass by many mills and cross many bridges; the last one is a wooden one beside a natural ‘pool’. You will have lunch somewhere beside the river, rest a bit and then continue to Bater.
Level 6 (15 km) This part of the trail is uphill at the end and requires good physical strength.
