It will be an opportunity to visit Harissa during this season. Join us on this day for a unique hike all the way from Sahel Alma to Harissa (Darb el Sama) then will be back from Aintoura (Darb el Qamar).

This hike will be two Levels 3 & 6 uphill & downhill.  However, we will go to Harissa and back following two paths:

The first trail, known as “Darb el Sama”, is quite steep but not very long. We will start walking from Sahel Alma, and reach Harissa through Ghadir. There will be a steep 500 meters uphill and the walk will last around 4 hours 12 km, with spectacular views along the way. 

Then after the visit in Harissa, we will take the second trail. Level 3 will start the hike from there. This trail is known as Darb el Qamar”. It is quite suitable for those who would like to join the hike following an easy trail.  The group will walk 7 km all the way to Aintoura, with a downhill of 300 meters.

The Cedars of God or Arz el Rab is one of the most beautiful sites in Lebanon. It was nominated, along with the cave of Jeita, to become one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The cedar forests of Lebanon are the oldest documented forests in history. There are 31 cedar forests in Lebanon, most significantly the forest of the Cedars of God in Bcharre. It is an ancient grove of cedars, the oldest in Lebanon. It makes a beautiful site, especially in winter, when snow covers it all and gives it a feeling of peace and calmness.

We will also see the amazing sculptures of Rudy Rahmeh, adding beauty to this historical forest.

The walk will be one moderate level. We will walk all in the reserve and enjoy the peaceful sight of snow-covered cedar trees.

We will then meet all for lunch in a beautiful spot under the cedar trees. Please bring your lunch with you.

One of the most traditional villages of Ftouh Keserwan, is where we are heading this time; Kfour!

This hike was prepared with the collaboration of the Municipality of Kfour, the Municipalities union of Keserwan and the scouts of Kfour who might be accompanying us during the event.

The name of the village goes back to the Syriac, similarly to a large number of Lebanese villages, meaning the plural of Kafr, or the large assembly of houses. This village is rich in old houses and churches which we will see a big part of during our walk. They are all linked through old streets and walking paths.

We will all start together by visiting a museum house and library owned by Mr. Abi Saab, who marked the history of the village. We will then start on a downhill track where the whole Gulf of Jounieh and Beirut cityscape can be seen until we reach Ain el Kroum where we will have a rest and enjoy the nostalgic feel.

We will then be divided into two levels:

Level 3 – will take an easy yet beautiful track leading to the end point. 

Level 6 – will take an uphill, more demanding trail to reach the church of St. Georges.

We will then all head back to Beirut with beautiful memories! On our way, we will have a lunch break somewhere where you can order food or enjoy your own lunch.

Our hike will be in Anfeh. Anfeh attracts a lot of tourists, for its beautiful picturesque landscape of small white houses, windmills, and salt marshes on its rocky beaches along the Mediterranean coast. Its historical monuments, old churches, and archeological site of its peninsula, make it one of the top touristic destinations of the Lebanese northern coast.

We will take first, the tiny paths in Anfeh, an old village rich in ruins and caves.

There, you will visit a very old Byzantine church among other historical monuments. The Citadel of Anfeh will be an important stop in our program.

The citadel is considered a Crusader remain, but it was an important place for many other civilizations. Many historical things like old graves, mosaic pieces, olive presses, and saltpans can be found in and around it. The citadel is characterized by its rock-cut trench (Al-Khandaq). 

Afterwards, we will take an easy path leading to Saidet el Natour, an old historical monastery, where you can take great pictures and enjoy the view.

At the stop, we will stop in one of the natural beauties of Anfeh.  A cave furnished and set up in quite a unique way. This is where we will eat homemade lunch.

Note: This hike will be one level, a moderate one (9 Km).  It will mostly be in the nature and on the tiny streets of Anfeh.

Jabal Turbul, a round-topped peak, standing 10 km of Al Mina. It is 681 m high overlooking beautiful sceneries of the Mediterranean, Palm’s island, Oyoun al Samak and a part of Syria.

Jabal Turbul is a barren land, where hiking in cool weather is ideal. 

Our hike will be divided into three levels:

LEVEL 2 (3.5 km) will start from the residence of Jean Obeid and walk along a flat trail to get to the church of Turbul overlooking views from Tripoli to Syria. Then you will take the bus to the woods of Turbul.

LEVEL 4 (8 km) will start with level 2, but will continue on foot along a downward trail passing through the church and reaching the woods of Turbul

LEVEL 6 (12 km) will start from Alma and hike upwards until the residence of Jean Obeid. It is quite steep, with an ascent of 400 meters. From there, the trail joins with level 4 all the way until you reach the woods.

All levels will meet for lunch at Turbul Church. Please pack your food with you.

On the way back, we will stop in Nabi Youchaa to visit an important religious sanctuary: Makam el Nabi Youchaa which is 40 m high.

The Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve protects one of the largest and densest cedar forests in Lebanon. 

Ninety percent of the trees in the forest are cedars. The stunning mountainous landscape, with cedars seemingly defying gravity and growing on extremely vertical slopes, is impressive. 

The Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve overpowers us with its beauty, especially in winter.

Warm yourself up with the appropriate outfit and footgear and spend with us a memorable day on the snow among beautiful trees and with excellent company.

As usual, there will be two levels of difficulty.

Level 3 - will have a moderate walk, with few ascents and descents and will have various stops for picture taking and resting.

Level 6 – will be mainly for exercising.  The path will be mostly uphill, with few stops.  You have to be fit for this kind of experience.

We will discover Chbanieh, a beautiful village located in the Metn Region and walk on a trail fully prepared and coordinated by Vamos Todos. This is definitely one of the most beautiful hiking locations in Lebanon, with plenty of wonderful landscapes to enjoy.

Like most villages in the Lebanese mountains, Chbanieh is covered with trees and orchards. It is located amidst a beautiful vast valley, which dazzled the French poet Lamartine, so the valley became known by the name of “Lamartine Valley”.

There are monuments of ancient graves in the town which are named “the graves of the Jews” until this day. Near the sarcophagus of the Jews there is a deep cave which has not been discovered yet, known as “Magharat Harb”.

This cave is archeological according to the traditions of the village and it contains the forest spring which has two sources, “Kakha” and “Fouar”.

We will start our day by visiting the ancient Mar Fram Monastery in Chbanieh, then we will begin walking, and our hike will be divided to two levels:

Both Level 3 and Level 6 will start walking in Chbanieh and head to a new location in Lamartine Valley.

Level 3 will then take a mostly downhill path with beautiful landscapes, and finish the hike in Deir el Harf. 

Level 6 will continue walking on a longer trail of 14 km, and end the hike in Kobbayh.

Don’t forget to bring your lunch with you. We will eat at a beautiful spot there. At the end of the hike, the two levels will take the bus and go back to Beirut.

Laqlouq is a winter and summer resort, situated on a plateau at an altitude between 1750m and 2000m. Laqlouq is encircled by jagged ridges and terraces bearing thousands of trees.

Laqlouq is known for its numerous water reservoirs.  In winter, when it is covered with snow, you get the impression of seeing ice ponds everywhere. It is a naturally beautiful view, and a must to see.

As usual, snowshoeing offers us the unique experience of calm and serenity. We will discover Laqlouq’s beauty while walking on snow. 

There will be two levels of difficulty.

Although both levels will be walking the same area, the harder level will take the steeper hills and the longer path to reach the top where a huge cross is located and views of the whole region can be seen.

Both levels will meet for lunch at a very picturesque spot. Please bring your lunch with you.

We are heading this time to the beautiful region of Batroun to discover the exquisite wine it has to offer!

During this special tour, we will visit three wineries: Batroun Mountains winery, Ixsir and Adyar wineries.

We will start our tour in Batroun Mountains winery. It is a family owned and operated winery and vineyards located in the mountainous region of Batroun.

Their wines and grapes are certified organic by "CCPB" confirming to EU organic standards, and their vineyards consist of eight plots located in six villages on altitudes from 400m to 1500m above sea level.

Then we will go to Ixsir, one of only two Lebanese producers present at Bordeaux's famous "La Semaine des Primeurs", an event hosted exclusively for the evaluation and tasting of French and international wines.  Ixsir was awarded the "Revelation of the Public" for its 2009 Grande Reserve White and the Media and Press award for its 2009 White. On May 11, 2010, IXSIR joined the Union Vinicole du Liban (UVL) and participated in a wine tasting event held in Paris for international wine experts and professionals

Afterwards, we will go to the monastery of KFIFAN, where you can visit Saint Neemtallah el Hardini and the beatified monk, Estephan Nehmeh. 

Once done, will see the winery of ADYAR, located in the monastery of Kfifan. Adyar was established in 2003, cultivating vineyards in Batroun, Metn and Chouf, and producing unique wines. The vineyards are not exposed to any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, thus giving us high quality organic wines. Adyar produces white, rose and red wines. You will get the chance to taste them during your visit.

Our tour will end with a well-deserved traditional lunch in one of the best family managed restaurants in Chobtine village.

Dhour Choueir is one of Mount Lebanon’s most beautiful villages. Its climate is a very convenient one due to the presence of vast pine forests within the surroundings of the village.

It is a town with many landmarks with some dating hundreds of years. Old caves, old mills, ancient bridges, natural water reservoirs, water springs, old souk with stone paved passages, beautiful houses with old traditional arches and much more can be seen in this beautiful village

In honor to Lebanon’s emigrants, Dhour El-Choueir holds a yearly carnival habitually during the month of August.

We will all start from the main square of Dhour Choueir. We will be one level, level 4.

It will be a moderate hike with some uphill. We will pass through a dirt road leading to Ghwab and Tallet Ameid. On our way we will see old caves. 

Then we will continue to the souk where we will enjoy the narrow passages and contemplate the renowned old houses and ancient arches of Dhour Choueir, passing through an amazing trail where we will cross three water springs. 

From there, we will go up on a long staircase to get to Ain Assis, where we will see the biggest Atlab or Strawberry tree that is the symbol of the village.

Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), the French poet and politician, lived in Lebanon during his voyage to the Orient. He loved the country and acquired an amazing inspiration by its beauty. Many sites in Lebanon are named after his family name, Lamartine. One of them is Lamartine Valley which was the source of inspiration to some of his literature masterpieces.

This time we have chosen Ras el Metn village which municipality plays an extremely crucial part in the growth and sustainability of the valley. This hike was prepared with its collaborations and a special thanks goes to the President of the municipality Mr. Marwan Salha and his deputy Mr Raja Aboureslan who are doing an amazing job keeping the village clean and a leading destination for eco-tourism enthusiasts.

We would also like to give the hats off to the AFDC, Ras el Metn unit who are also doing an excellent job sustaining the villages natural resources through the unit responsible Mr. Issam Makarem.

In addition to pine nuts, olives, grapes, figs, apricots and other fruits are cultivated there in this fertile village.

A look around Ras El Metn will reveal a number of interesting sights: a large serial (1755), Nabaa Ain El Marj (1472), ancient tombs carved into rocky cliffs, and natural grottos.

We will also see an old abandoned monastery, Deir Mar Youhana which is located at a hilltop in Shehlen, where you can see the whole region from Bhamdoun to Ktaleh.

The hike will be divided into three levels:

LEVEL 3 will be an easy one, mostly flat and downhill, with a descent of 280 meters. The hike will start from Ras el Metn. We will walk among pine trees and see old abandoned houses and bridges. 

We will see the main water source of Nabeh el Delbi, which supplies Beirut with drinking water. There, you will wait by the river, while Level 4 go uphill to Deir Mar Youhana. 

Then you will continue all together along the riverbank, and end the hike at Ain Sheikh Hassan Halawi, another fresh water source.

LEVEL 6 (13.5 km) will start from the village of Qortada. The trail starts with downhill and uphill stretches reaching the water source of Ras el Metn. From there, another uphill stretch will take you to the trail of level 4, and continue along it until Ain Sheikh Hassan Halawi.

All levels will meet for lunch at the riverbank. Please bring your lunch with you.

At the end of the hike, you will take the bus to the village, to see the Serail and the municipality of Ras el Metn.

On a high hill stands the large serail, or government house, built by the Lamaayeen princes in 1775. The huge building later served as a high school. Although damaged in Lebanon's recent war, one can still appreciate the serail's elegant courtyard and bell tower.

Our hike this time will be in one of the most beautiful villages of Batroun caza, Bchaale & Assia.

“Bchaale”, meaning “rest and safety” in Assyrian, is a small village standing on the amazing hills of Batroun caza. It is mostly known for its 6000 years old olive trees otherwise known as “The Sisters” as it is believed that they were there since Noah’s flood and they are the sisters of Noah. This village is a must see as it holds one of the oldest and most important “beings” on earth!

 

Named after monk who cared for patients in the area whose name was “Assia” or ‘medical practitioner’ in Assyrian language, Assia is a village of exceptional beauty.  It is rich in remainders of ancient civilizations; where we can see sarcophagi, old historical churches and old grape and olive presses. The village has many springs and water ponds; Saidet el Qalaa Pond, (or The Lady of the Fortress Pond), which is the most beautiful sight we will encounter.  The water level is the same all year long. Just sitting there by the pond and watching the waterfall overhead is truly amazing! Assia is also known for its handcrafted pottery.

Our hike will be divided into two levels that will start all together by visiting “the sisters” and then continue to the historical St. Stephan church, which is the main church of the village. We will then head on a beautiful trail to Mar Touma monastery located among amazing oak trees. 

From there we will head to “Saydet el Qalaa” where the famous water pond is located. 

After this, the two levels will separate where Level 3 will have sometime around the pond for contemplating the views and have amazing pictures. 

Level 6 will take an uphill track to the village and do a tour inside it, then head to the main piazza of Assia where the other group will be waiting for them.

Situated in the middle part of Batroun Casa - North Lebanon, Hardine is a quiet and peaceful village, still maintaining its typical Lebanese architecture with old houses and red roofs. Lying in the middle of a valley, Hardine counts 36 churches and convents, and is the village where Saint Naamtallah El Hardini was born.

An old roman temple is still remaining on the upper hill of Hardine, from where you can see from the west side the Mediterranean sea and from the east side the famous cedar forest of Tannourine.

The «rocky tile of Hardine» is a must to see. It has many marine fossils and is sloped to the west. It has a unique length of 350m and a width of nearly 100m.

It is important to note that eleven of Hardine's finest young men drowned in the tragedy of Titanic in 1912.

Our hike will be divided into two levels:

LEVEL 3: An easy hike, inside the village’s old trails and roads where we will be visiting the old churches and the house where the Saint was born. The hike is full of trees and green areas preserving its natural atmosphere.

LEVEL 6: It is a moderate hike; that will start with a 2 hours uphill walk, until we reach the roman temple. The uphill walk is not very hard, but it needs good physical condition. After reaching the roman temple, we will have a rest, where you can catch back your breath and take beautiful photos of the region. 

The hike downhill will start after the visit of the roman temple. On our way, we will visit a very old convent that is hidden between the trees.

Both levels will meet at the end of the hike, before going back to Beirut.

Discover this snowshoeing trail from Falougha to Jabal el Kneiseh.

At more than 1650 meters altitude, you’ll have wonderful views of the whole region.

The trail first passes by Falougha Cedar Forest where the first Lebanese flag was raised continuing to Lamartine Rock where the famous French poet, Lamartine, used to sit and get inspired.  

The group will be divided into two levels:

The hard level will start from Sohat factory in Falougha and continue uphill until they reach 

Jabal Kneiseh. From there they will go to the Cedar forest and then to Lamartine Rock for lunch.

The easier level will start from Sohat factory in Falougha and continue to Sohat Village then to the Cedar forest heading to Lamartine Rock for lunch.

After lunch, both groups will go back together to Falougha where the trail will end.
